Simon Gerke
Engineer “Test & Telekom”
How did you come to join us?
After several years in film and television, I wanted to pursue professional development. I came across a job posting online for an engineer specializing in comparative product testing, and I found that very interesting. I was fascinated by the diversity Müller-BBM offers – from audio measurements to media technology planning and environmental measurements. Müller-BBM provides a very broad spectrum.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Alongside the technical aspects, creative work is very important to me. During my interview tour, I realized that this is exactly what happens here. We explore new technologies, examine what advantages they offer, and check whether they deliver on their promises. Müller-BBM also provides the freedom and support from colleagues to continually come up with or develop new measurement approaches.
What I find particularly exciting about my work is its variety. We test a wide range of products. I mainly focus on smartphones, assessing display and camera quality, as well as durability against drops and water.

What did your first 100 days look like?
One of my first projects was investigating live services of navigation systems. That was very exciting because we recorded the displays of navigation systems in traffic jam situations. There were about 15 video signals recorded in parallel and then synchronized afterwards. I was very glad that my colleagues supported me and trusted me – even when I wasn’t entirely sure if the measurement setup would work.
Describe MBBM in three words.
For me, Müller-BBM is innovative, reliable, and competent.
