Wind turbines

With Tailwind: We’re Driving Wind Energy Forward

Wind turbines do not produce direct CO₂ emissions and therefore contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. However, wind turbines also generate noise, which can affect the surrounding environment and residents. We conduct precise sound emission and sound immission measurements in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines. Our detailed sound immission forecasts and shadow flicker calculations, based on generally accepted calculation and assessment principles, make it possible to evaluate the expected immissions during the planning phase before the wind turbine is commissioned.

Our Expertise in Wind turbines

Sound emission measurements

Our sound emission measurements are conducted in accordance with DIN EN 61400-11 and the specifications of the FGW, ensuring the highest accuracy and reliability. Using the multi-channel measurement system MKII and the PAK software from our sister company Müller-BBM VibroAkustik Systeme GmbH, we capture all relevant measurement parameters simultaneously and comprehensively. Thanks to specialized evaluation programs, we can perform a preliminary analysis immediately after the measurement.

Your benefits:

  • Cutting-edge technology: With the MKII multi-channel measurement system and the PAK software, we record all relevant parameters simultaneously and comprehensively.
  • Rapid evaluation: Thanks to specialized evaluation programs, we can carry out a preliminary analysis immediately after the measurement.

Sound immission measurements

Sound immission measurements are carried out in accordance with the Sixth General Administrative Regulation to the Federal Immission Control Act (Technical Instructions on Noise Abatement – TA Lärm). In doing so, we take into account the performance data of the wind turbines, wind speed, and wind direction to ensure a comprehensive and accurate evaluation.

Your benefits:

  • Compliance with legal requirements: Our measurements meet the standards of TA Lärm, ensuring legal certainty and regulatory compliance.
  • Comprehensive data collection: We consider all relevant parameters such as turbine performance data, wind speed, and wind direction to enable precise and reliable evaluations.
  • Experience and expertise: Benefit from our many years of experience and expertise in sound immission measurements to achieve optimal results for your wind turbines.

Sound immission forecasts and shadow flicker

Our sound immission forecasts are carried out in accordance with the requirements of TA Lärm and the relevant LAI guidelines. Using detailed sound propagation calculations, we can precisely predict and assess the expected sound immissions at the immission site even before the wind turbine(s) are commissioned. Additionally, we calculate shadow flicker down to the minute and assess visual immissions in accordance with current regulations outlined in the LAI guidelines.

Your benefits:

  • Precise forecasts: Our sound immission forecasts and shadow flicker calculations provide an accurate assessment of expected immissions before the wind turbine(s) go into operation.
  • Compliance: Our services comply with current legal requirements, standards, and guidelines.
  • Recognized expertise: Müller-BBM is officially recognized as an expert body under § 29b of the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), and our laboratories are accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, underscoring our high level of expertise and reliability.
