Acoustic signature management

Real-time monitoring of the acoustic signature of submarines

Monitor and analyse the acoustic signature of submarines in real time with our structure-borne sound monitoring system!

What is Structure-borne sound monitoring about?

Structure-borne sound monitoring is crucial for the safety and stealth of submarines. Due to favorable propagation conditions in water, sounds can be heard over long distances, increasing the risk of being detected, classified, and identified by foreign sonar devices.

The structure-borne sound monitoring system developed by Müller-BBM Industry Solutions continuously measures structure-borne sound on noise sources and on the outer hull of the submarine. It compares the measured data in real time with condition-dependent reference spectra. Additionally, it predicts the sound radiated into the water using PCA. The system detects and analyzes short-term noises and presents the results in 1/3-octave and narrowband spectra.
