Waffle slab / Wafer slab

The term ‘waffle slab’ or ‘wafer slab’ refers to a special reinforced concrete floor slab featuring grid-like beams or cylindrical recesses. Owing to its high flexural stiffness and favourable dynamic properties, it is used in particular in semiconductor factories and other vibration-sensitive production areas to minimise the transmission of structural vibrations while simultaneously enabling optimal conditions for the supply of utilities between the fab and subfab.
