Acoustics and E-Mobility? A topic that also concerns the acousticians and experts at Müller-BBM Industry Solutions.

In a current measurement campaign, we are investigating the noise generated during the charging process of electric vehicles and its impact on people and the environment.

As part of the test series, various vehicles with different charging capacities are systematically measured at different charging stations and temperature ranges. The focus is on the emitted airborne sound levels, using the PAK system from our sister company Müller-BBM VibroAkustik Systeme GmbH. This allows us to determine what emissions occur, where and when, during the charging process from the combined system of charging station and vehicle. Particular attention is paid to the high-frequency tonal components of the sound.

Based on this measurement data, we can not only assess the impact on human perception but also derive targeted measures for noise reduction in urban environments.
