The hazardous substances testing centre at Müller-BBM Industry Solutions GmbH has successfully passed the interlaboratory test “Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) using thermodesorption 2026 and in-house sampling 2” organised by the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) of the German Social Accident Insurance. The sampling took place on 17th of June 2026 directly on the IFA’s professional test gas line in St. Augustin. The relevant certificate was issued on 4th of September 2026.
Since 1989, the IFA has been organising international interlaboratory tests for monitoring stations and laboratories specialising in hazardous substances. These are regarded as a key component of quality assurance and serve to demonstrate technical competence and to validate measurement procedures in accordance with recognised standards.
The IFA’s state-of-the-art test facility enables up to 25 participants to carry out their own sampling simultaneously under precisely defined and controlled conditions. This allows for independent verification of both the quality of the sampling and the performance of the subsequent laboratory analysis.
As part of the interlaboratory test, our experts were able to successfully detect and analyse various volatile organic compounds, including various aromatics such as benzene and xylenes, naphthalene, butyl acetate and n-butanol.
The analysis was carried out using thermal desorption followed by capillary gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in accordance with DIN ISO 16000-6.
This successful participation once again confirms the high quality of our measurement procedures and the expertise of our hazardous substances measurement unit in carrying out robust workplace and exposure measurements.
