Forecast of periodic shadow cast by wind turbines

The shadow cast calculations are based on the position of the sun – which varies according to location, day and time – and the technical data for the respective wind turbine type. The maximum possible astronomical shadow durations at specific points-of-interest are determined and, in Germany, assessed in accordance with the limit values set out in the LAI-WKA Shadow Cast Guidelines.
