Measurement of particle number concentrations (ultrafine particles), DIN EN 16976

This document specifies a standard method for determining the particle number concentration in ambient air in the range up to approximately 10⁷ cm⁻³ for averaging times of at least 1 minute. The standard method is based on a condensation particle counter (CPC) operated in counting mode, with a dilution system fitted upstream where necessary if the particle number concentration exceeds the range of the counting mode. Furthermore, performance parameters and minimum requirements for suitable instruments are defined.
