Natura 2000

Natura 2000 is a network of protected areas within the European Union that aims to conserve Europe’s most valuable and threatened species and habitats. It was established under the Habitats Directive and the Birds Directive and comprises both terrestrial and marine areas. The aim of Natura 2000 is to conserve biodiversity in the long term and to promote sustainable use.
