Lower Explosive Limit (LEL)

The lower explosive limit (LEL) is the lowest concentration of a flammable gas or combustible dust in the air at which an explosion is possible. Below this limit, the mixture is too lean to cause an explosion. The LEL is an important parameter for assessing and preventing explosion risks in industrial plants.
