Tertiary explosion protection measures (structural explosion protection)

If it is not possible to reliably prevent the occurrence and ignition of a hazardous explosive atmosphere and/or a hazardous explosive mixture, appropriate protective measures (tertiary explosion protection measures) must be taken to minimise the effects of any explosion that may occur.

The following are considered tertiary explosion protection measures:

• Explosion-proof construction

• Explosion pressure relief

• Explosion suppression

• Explosion-related decoupling
