TOP principle

Within the scope of a noise reduction programme, the TOP principle (Technical, Organisational, Personal) describes the order of priority for noise reduction measures to be assessed in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Regulation on Noise and Vibration. The rule is as folllows: technical measures take precedence over organisational measures. Personal protective measures, such as the use of hearing protection, are to be considered as a last resort for hazard prevention.
