Blower calculation

Systems in which combustible gases are handled are usually equipped with one or more blowers. These are used, for example, to vent gases into the open air in a controlled manner, e.g. for maintenance and repair work, or to reduce dangerous overpressure with the aid of a safety valve. To prevent explosions during such blow-off processes, an explosion protection zone is defined for the area around the blower, which must be kept free of ignition sources. The quantitative calculation of explosion protection zones around a blower always depends on the specific circumstances in each individual case (material properties, pressure, pipe geometries, building situation, etc.) and can be determined approximately in accordance with relevant regulations or using simulation software.
